If you imagine what it would feel like to be trapped in a carnival or circus after the gates are closed for the night, what do you see? This seemed to be the setup for half of the scary movies or tv shows I watched as I was growing up. I wanted to try to portray that musically, and the result was The Midnight Circus. I am really proud of how this piece came out. At some moments it is creepy, at some moments it is funny, and other times it feels intense, as if you are having to run from something that shouldn’t be there.
